The legendary USC Trojans are one of the five greatest football programs in the United States -- and the game in town in Los Angeles. There have been down years before, such as between the Robinson and Carroll eras, but never have fans been left to wonder so much about just what is next for their storied team. Will there be NCAA sanctions? Will new coach Lane Kiffin, himself a target of some questionable practices at the University of Tennessee, be able to stir up the faithful, recruit the game's best talent and bring another national title to Los Angeles? Or, are USC fans in for a long ride?
How do fans feel about the end of the Carroll era?
I grew up in Southern California following all things Trojan and have great historical references. I am a former staff writer at The Orange County Register, and my work has appeared in newspapers such as The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash., the Business Journal in San Jose, Calif., the News and Observer in Raleigh, N.C., and the Times Union in Albany, N.Y.
