  • Hi,

So I've finished the story and it's ended up being a two parter: Part I will air January 7, Part II January 8, both on KALW 91.7 FM.. Part I will deal with the process of waste getting form your home and getting treated at the sewage plant; II with what happens after your poop is treated, i.e. the safety/risks/pros/cons of reusing it as fertilizer.

Thanks to everyone who donated to the story and took interest in it. I hope the end product  meets your expectations.

  • Hi Chris,

Will KALW be making a downloadable or streamed version of this available after the air date for those of us unable to tune in to KALW 91.7 FM ON Jan 7 & 8.

Personally I'm out of pocket on those dates and I'd love to still be able to catch the report.

    Many thanks

    Jon

  • Yeah, both parts will be posted online and listenable after they air. Check them out at www.crosscurrentsradio.org

  • My name is Britten i have been researching about health risk.I live in a trailor park i have been there for 4 years. My problem is there is no cap on my tank and when we go to the bathroom to use the toilet it comes out in my back yard and runs into the under pending. Also my water spicet is back there. If he puts the cap on my drain pipe then in over flows into my bathroom. I have been told our septic tank is no bigger than a 55 gallon drum. I have talked with people in the trailor park they don't want me to report it because we will have to move. I can afford to move either. I am disabled and waitting to be approved. If it wasn't for my husband i would be on the streets. My land lord doesn't care about nothing but getting paid. He told me if i didn't like the sewage problem to find some where else to live. All i want is some information on how to protect me and my famliy. All i have been able to find out is what can happen. One more thing i have to cover my toilet with tinfoil because my whole house will smell like sulfer. I know there are leaks in others pipes under the ground because when the hottest part of the summer gets here there are places that are sopping wet. Please if you have any information on how to protect myself would you email me at gbritten1215@yahoo.com Sincerely,Britten
