The way you posted and described this event and footage is a disgrace to all our valiant servicemembers. Perhaps you should have taken the time to have a combat pilot review and analyze this footage. You seem to wish to push the angle of some wild needless attack on civilians. As a former combat pilot I can tell you this is never the case.
Our American military has for too long been murdering, raping, and torturing innocents...then expend great effort to cover up the corruption. The military cover-ups and attacks on journalists is appalling and a direct threat to all Americans and freedom of the press. No wonder the military goons are trying to suppress and discredit journalists when wikileaks exposes their cold-blooded murders, lies, and mayhem. Those responsible should be imprisoed.
The problem here is Racism/Prejudice. Do you believe any of the "SERVICEmen" involved would have carried on with this disgusting outrage if they remotely felt that their friends/relatives were down on the ground. Let's not be too stupid here. Truth needs to bring about change in all our thinking.
Just because there were kids in the vehicle doesn't mean they shouldn't have shot at an identified target. Terrorists use kids as propaganda tools in war ALL the time and they count on the press reporting it. They've also hidden bombs and weapons in childrens' hospitals in the past as well. What do we do? Give the enemy a pass each time they bring children into it. BOTTOM LINE: They identified their targets wrong and this was a tragedy for the innocent victims. There would be no innocent victims if the terrorists would stop being terrorists. Let's be sober about the cost of human error in war but let's not forget who the real bad guys are. Yes, there is evil in the world and it's not America. Notice who was running with the injured girl to help her: an American Soldier. Hardly a careless barbarian. When do I get to see the video of our boys taking out the bad guys before they carry out their evil plot??? When do we remember and celebrate the costly price of freedom that allows freedom of speech and the press? There's no such thing as war in an ideal world. Unfortunately we do not live in one. Please join reality....
Innocent people died here. They were killed because they "appeared" to be the bad guys. Rules of Engagement? Save it. I wish more people really gave a damn about the atrocities that have been occurring in this misguided war. I applaud the web site for posting this tragic event. Maybe when Americans SEE what is happening in Iraq they will feel differently about our continued pointless occupation. These innocent men and children were walking down a street and/or sitting in a vehicle. Where was the threat? Where? And to listen to the dialogue between the servicemen was gut-wrenching. Such a rush to judge and a sincere agenda to kill. Wake up people. We are not who we pretend to be to the rest of the world, and slowly they are pulling our card. I support our troops. I support them so much that I would like to bring them home so that "mistakes" like these don't have to happen. If the shoe were on the other foot and it was them occupying us, killing our innocent family members we would feel different, yet the same. Enough is enough....@Scott - You are wrong. Blaming this attack on terrorists is like robbing a bank and blaming it on unemployment. The end does NOT justify the means. I don't claim to be a military expert, neither do I feel the need to be. I use common sense when making important decisions. These men were walking calmly down a street. So, again, what is in question here?
Justified or not Iraq is a war zone and unfortunate accidents will occur. Our forces are doing all they can to minimize killing of non-combatants. Does the other side obey rules of combat? Absolutely not! Why don't you include videos of intentional killing of non-combatants by the terrorists? You do our country and military a disservice by obtaining and posting these videos. Not one cent to your cause from me!
I can see the forum is full of progressive, liberal, bleeding hearts. Oh well. You do get free speech, that was given to you by those who died for it. Soldiers. So to all of you who hate the military, we do not hate you, we protect you and your right to hate us.

Killing innocent people is the topic of discussion here. All you military or ex-military folks that read comments from people like me, civilians, need to understand that first and foremost. My grandfather, uncle, cousin, and current roommate all served in the forces. I respect the men and women of this country (and others) that put their lives on the line. BUT, how many more innocent people have to die (and if you are military, you should know how often) in the name of "freedom." Like it or not, we occupied Iraq for purposes other than national security. And folks, this wasn't the first time or most likely the last, unfortunately. I am proud to be an American. I am not proud of a large part of the governing body that allows our servicemen and women to be subjected to useless wars, while using lies, propaganda and greed to justify senseless killing. If you watch that video and aren't moved to tears, you are simply missing something in the head and heart. Let them pray to their god, work their jobs, and live their lives the way they see fit. After all, isn't that the "American Dream." Hypocrisy at it's finest.
