I funded the cause...simply it's a story that needs to be told and a story I hope someone will hear. I talk about the Marlton Square a lot and what will happen to it, what can I do...honestly I don't know. Although my donation is small I hope that I can forward this message to every I know...who can also donate something and a lot of small somethings may turn into a big something...I want to shop in my community, I want to dine in my community, I want to walk and feel somewhat safe in my community...I want people to care...I mean there are so many families and nice homes...they have to want the same things I want. I don't want to drive 10 miles or more outside of my community to shop at Trader Joes or eat at a nice restaurant or shop at a nice mall or see a movie...we have the land, we have the income...we just don't have the places to go.
To Barbara and every one else who has given so far, I wanted to make sure you know my appreciation. I feel exactly that way Barbara does. And I said many times before this summer: "What Can I Do?" This is a tremendous amount of work and it's daunting from an expenses point of view, not just time. But doint something that will make a difference (cross my fingers) is close to a reality thanks to the team at Spot.us, Intersections South LA, the Leimert Park community and the dozens of friends and people I don't even know who have contributed to and supported this effort. We're halfway there.
