  • As a native San Franciscan, I recall vividly going to work on what was the World's Fair on Treasure Island. I've always hoped that one day it would become a Tivoli Garden, like the one in Copenhagen, to which would come people from all the neighboring counties--and that in fact, those counties would participate in planning--and therefore, funding--this magical, central place. (I believe there is already an organization to which all the counties belong, although I don't know the exact name). Without a doubt, it would also become a destination for people from all over the world.

  • Hi Ruth! I'm the social media strategist for the SF Public Press. We're preparing our print edition and we'd love to add your comment as a letter to the editor. Shoot me an e-mail at suzanneyada at gmail dot com. We'd love to hear from you.

  • I already sent you an OK. Could you change the word "on" in my first sentence to "at". Many thanks.

  • I've heard such fascinating stories about this project, among them that Da Mayor Willie wanted to make it an everything-free zone with high-end prostitution and all kinds of expensive games -right here, in our own Bay - and the East Bay-ers wouldn't even have to cross the whole Bridge. In addition, Treasure Island has intrigued me since I first crossed the Bay Bridge in my teens when my dad had a fellowship and was consulting with colleagues at UC Berkeley (on the topic of teaching "real" health ed. to kids - like how not to get sick by not drinking or smoking and eating right - revolutionary! in 1954!) Look forward to updates.
