I propose a series of photo essays, documenting neighborhoods within Los Angeles. The objective of these images is to illuminate the diversity of community within this gigantic urban sprawl. Next to the pictures will be short text,  elucidating the importance of each subject, whether it be a public space, a local cafe, or a group of kids who frequent the area. Through these photo essays, I will explore and chronicle the unique qualities that give these specific neighborhoods their sense of place and unity.

Beyond that, I intend to string together each of these neighborhoods with a unifying theme: What makes everyone in LA -- regardless of religious, socioeconomi, or cultural background -- an Angeleno. Perhaps it's the fact that the famous wait in line with the rest of the folks; that the 2010 BMW and the 1973 Pinto sit in the same traffic on Sunset Boulevard that makes the city so unique. It is this massive, congested city as great equalizer that means that we are all in it together. And while the city does mirror some of the divisions that exist in the rest of the world, it embraces a system in which people group based on interest, rather than race or social standing.
