Hey Laura, They failed to privatize FEMA, but it's not from lack of trying during the GW Bush Administration. I'm not in favor of the DHS or any expansion of the National Security State. I'm also not in favor of privatizing legitimate functions of the government or allowing influences from the private sector to corrupt democratic processes. One of the reasons that the SEC is broken is the influence of politics. Privatizing often makes the political influence worse. I know this seems counter-intuitive, especially to Libertarian types, but a political problem is usually best solved with a political solution! The privatized bond rating companies failed just as bad or worse than the government regulator agencies. This cause a world-wide economic recession in 2008 (as I'm sure you're aware of).

Privatizing worked so well with FEMA... ask the people of New Orleans... There are a lot of good ideas in Spot.Us. This is not one of them!

I'm glad to see community radio stations embracing social networking. Have you heard of the Grassroots Radio Conference? Here's the website: http://grassrootsradioconference.org/. If you can make it to Kansas City on August 18-21, I would really like to hear about your radio station. Maybe you can do a workshop on using Spot.Us to fund community radio news projects.

I really hate bullies. BTW: There's some typos in the pitch. I hope you will edit it.

Have you heard about Nate Phelp's book? Here is a link to a podcast interview with Nate Phelps: http://www.atheistalliance.org/media/podcast/index.php?id=68 I do believe that the corporate/mainstream media creates caricatures of the WBC, but that's mainly because of the laziness and corruption of the Media. I funded your story, so that you can get a close up look at the insanity and hate of the WBC. They are con-artists who know how to play the media, but they are also insane.
