About OlyBLOG.com

Hi Folks,

I'm actually a bit north of S.F., in Vancouver, Canada

Spot.Us looks like a pretty cool idea so I thought I'd jump on board to see how things work. I've also worked another social media project with David Cohn, New Assignment/Assignment Zero, and he did a great job there, so I was really interested to see what kind of wacky and innovative ideas he would cook up here, and it looks very promising.

I'm the editor of social media website OlyBLOG.com. Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Olympics. We help citizens and small business owners make sense of the confusion and impact an Olympic event has on a community. I learned a lot over the last 5 years about political wrangling and mainstream news media meddling. Basically, my book, Leverage Olympic Momentum and blog, keep everyone apprised of the info Olympic organizations and local news media don't want people to know. Our readers are now from all over the world, but mainly the Vancouver and Seattle areas.

Our slogan at OlyBLOG.com is "Pro-Olympics with a twist," which means we love the sporting aspect  of the Games, but really hate the political meddling and mismanagement of Olympic organizations.

What is Spot.us?

Spot.Us is an open source project to pioneer "community powered reporting." Through Spot.Us the public can commission and participate with journalists to do reporting on important and perhaps overlooked topics. Contributions are tax deductible and we partner with news organizations to distribute content under appropriate licenses.
