Bill Lascher is a Portland, OR-based journalist specializing in stories about the intersection of the environment with policy, science and social, political, economic and technological forces. He received a Master’s in Specialized Journalism degree from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California, where he studied science writing, environmental policy, climate science and global civil society. Previously, Lascher was editor of the Ventura County Reporter, a weekly alternative newspaper in Ventura County. Earlier, he reported on technology and legal affairs for the Pacific Coast Business Times. A graduate of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, Maine and Oberlin College, Lascher co-founded and was the first chair of the Oregon News Incubator. He now freelances for a variety of publications, most based on the West Coast, writing about energy, disaster planning, green building and other topics.
