About Laura Amico

Laura Norton Amico is a freelance journalist in Washington D.C. and the editor of Homicide Watch D.C., providing in-depth coverage of homicides in the District of Columbia.

She has covered crime, education, courts, the environment and general assignment beats at daily papers in California and is skilled at public information requests and social media.

Laura won a New York Times Chairman’s Award in the summer of 2009 while at the Santa Rosa Press Democrat for her coverage of a dangerous roadside attacker who targeted women motorists for several months. In the award, her coverage was credited with helping to identify a suspect.

When not researching homicide victims or tracking down court records, she can be found at local farmer’s markets, trying out gluten free recipes for her food blog, and editing travel photos.

Her resume and work samples are online.
