About Hear in the City

Hear in the City produces radio for and by community stakeholders toward a sense of shared social purpose in the urban space.

Our team of experienced radio reporters and producers focuses on local environment, arts, education, and culture in and around Los Angeles. Our goal is to map the city through sound-rich profiles of people living and working toward creative social change and solutions in the city.

Each week, we produce

radio realities from the urban landscape that serve as points of entry into larger online conversations. Hear in the City is hosted by long-time public radio producer/reporter and journalism instructor, Sara Harris, and produced by independent multimedia producer, Luis Sierra Campos. Our core reporters are freelance multimedia journalist and public affairs radio host, Thandisizwe Chirmurenga, and MQ2 grantee, Youth Radio graduate, and comedian, King Anyi Howell.

We broadcast live on Mondays at 2pm on historic Pacifica station KPFK 90.7FM in Los Angeles and on www.kpfk.org.
