I am the woman behind The City Maven, the insider’s guide to the policy decisions made in Los Angeles City Hall. I single-handily launched the website in November 2010 following my graduation from the Medill School of Journalism, where I was part of the inaugural class of Media Strategy and Leadership students. From 2005 to 2009, I was a reporter with the wire service City News Service. During that time I reported daily on Los Angeles city and county politics. Journalism is a professional and personal passion of mine. As I see it, the major issues facing reporters and editors today are technology, content, monetization and trust. It is no secret that journalism’s business model is going through a seismic shift. It is a challenge but it is also an opportunity to get creative.
